Krista Vandel-Lantz

My name is Krista Sue and I originate from kind of all over the place. I was born in Auburn, Washington but moved multiple times during my adolescence. Before high school, I had moved to four different cities within Indiana and Illinois and moved back to Washington again. Since starting college my family has also moved to both Arizona and Nevada.

Currently, I reside in Pullman, WA where I am a junior undergraduate at Washington State University. I am studying Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. I am also attaining a minor in music.

On the Limerence Team, I work with Creative Design, or as I like to say “making things pretty.” Although, I like to joke around by saying that, this hands on experience has been so much more. I have created this company’s visual identity including, but not limited to: the logo, color scheme, typography and entire website layout. This position has been perfect for me because during every project I have ever worked on I have been fixated on visual aesthetics and how they appeal to my audience. This has given me the opportunity to really hone in on this skill/interest of mine to see if I have a knack for it in a real life simulation.

Despite moving around my entire life, one thing has always stayed constant: music and live performance. From a very young age, I began singing and writing music, but that quickly evolved into something so much greater. Before the age of 13, I could play guitar, piano, saxophone and clarinet. I also involved myself in musical theater starting at a very young age. It always seems cliche to say, but music performance is what I was born to do and I plan on pursuing that straight out of college. I would have begun to pursue it sooner, but obtaining my college degree has always been a goal for me since I would be the first in my family to achieve that level of education. For now, I am writing music, honing in on my personal sound and learning valuable skills in my music and communication classes that will push me further in professional atmospheres.

I do consider myself a level headed individual and understand that success in the field of music is very hard to come by. If for some reason, my dream of this success does not find its way into the light I plan on working with digital content promotion for a music event company. For the last four years, especially, I have been heavily involved in the world of Electronic Dance Music and PLUR(Peace.Love.Unity.Respect). By delving into this music and the community that surrounds it I have discovered a whole new side of myself. A side that is ready to attack life because, despite anything that happens, it will all be okay in the end.

Outside of school and music, I am of a Panhellenic Sorority: Alpha Delta Pi. Being a member of the Upsilon Chapter has allowed me to be an active member of my community, keep my grades up, grow into a respectable young woman and meet some of the best friends I will ever have. Within Upsilon I have served as the Public Relations Chair. During my term, I created a website for our chapter, ran all of our social media accounts, created a recruitment video, and served as a correspondent to all of the other sorority and fraternity chapters on campus.

One of my best qualities is my adaptability. Because I moved around so much while growing up I had to adapt to situations and other types of people very easily. This allows me to work well with just about anyone in any type of occurrence. I am also very easy-going and just generally have a positive attitude. My best quality in the workplace, however, is my natural skill of knowing what people like. I have always had a knack for reading people and knowing what they want to see.
